Caloric Deprivation and Deep Thoughts :)

I'm not sure if any of you follow my contest prep journalling, but I posted something yesterday that I think carries through to much of life.  It's about how imperative it is for us all to really, truly, show up for our lives.

You can find my plopplings here.

  1. I was completely unaware of this. Last year Ronda Sundermeier (winner of grand teton 100 in 2008, second place in hardrock in 2009) did what sounds like exactly this. She wrote about it in her blog: http://roosterruns.blogspot.com/ (you'll have to go back to posts in fall 2008)
I found it fascinating and look forward to following your progress as well.

  2. Cool! I'm loving your "Tales from the Streak-Side".

You're getting quick! I doubt I'll be able to keep up with you at the Self-T marathon this August!

  3. Oh now you're just flattering me. (:

Now that I'm all caught up with your figure-blog, when you said, "you have to lay it on the line. All of it. No holds barred" I thought of my attitude towards the treadmill. I love trail running and get a pastoral squishy lovey feeling out of it, and speed becomes less important. But at the gym on that hamster wheel, I'm kind of miserable and just want to get the workout over with - so to get more value out of it, I run really hard; hence speed improvements. I don't think that will translate to a fast marathon this August, especially since when the weather improves I'll be running outside again in my happy place and not paying so much attention to speed.

That's a long-winded way of saying you'll smoke my ass again this fall. (:

  4. Considering that I'm struggling these days to hold a 10mm pace (this morning I was happy to run at 5.0), we'll have to wait and see.

Since I'm hopping on the TM at home before work, I'm super sleepy and just slugging through it - it's really an excuse to watch TV for 40 mins before work...but I'm working on getting back up to speed!

  5. Diva, I'm reading this and applying it to writing, and it's equally true. Great thoughts, and so well put. I'm forwarding the link to some writing pals of mine. I think this is something that all of us can stand to see. Thanks--and hello!!
